Together We Save Lives

In 2006, Mrs. Hoori Sadler established the Persian American Cancer Institute, a non-profit, non-denominational organization. Mrs. Sadler, a cancer survivor, and her organization aim to reduce the impact of cancer today and eliminate the threat of cancer tomorrow. In the Persian culture, cancer is looked upon as a taboo, a shameful death sentence. The physical survival of cancer is only part of the battle; there is also an emotional, torturous, lonely journey that one usually has to endure.

PACI was awarded by “Be The Match” on April 3, 2010 for “Outstanding Partnership and Increasing Community Participation in Be The Match Registry.”

PACI aspires to pave the road to healing and serve as a reminder that you are not alone, and that there is indeed life after cancer. Our organization strongly believes that love, compassion and hope are vital to the fight against cancer. Fear and shame do not exist where there is awareness, knowledge and hope. All around the world, organizations similar to PACI have played a crucial role in the battle against cancer, and we feel it is our time and duty to join such a global movement.

PACI strives to heal not only the debilitating cancer but also the fragile heart and human spirit that weaken during such a traumatic process. With the support and endorsement of some of the best known cancer institutes, and the recruitment of community leaders, artists, activists, survivors and their families, our organization is determined to make a difference. We will reduce the impact of cancer in the Persian-American community and in the world beyond.

Mission

The Persian American Institute (PACI) aims to increase the awareness and participation of Persian-Americans in the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer.

• To educate and support a community that traditionally lacks vital knowledge on cancer
